RICO LOOP

Rico Loop is a « one-man-jam », exploring the entities of music in communication with himself as a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter!

Rico creates musical compositions using many different instruments and objects, including guitar, bass, keyboard, melodica, harmonica, and glass bottles, along with his voice (singing and mouth percussion, or beat-boxing). He plays and records a segment of music, which then repeats continuously. He can then play another segment of music and layer it on top of the previous one. With each layer the composition becomes more complex. This is a new technique of live-producing, teaching the audience how music is compiled and arranged, and exploring how rhythms and melodies interact. Rico’s passion is to convey images and emotions through his music.

Maestro Rico Loop chases fugitive sounds, sampling strange noises and cryptic voices; weaves them into an intricate aural tapestry. Enwrapped in it, try to escape and you fail !

Ricoloop has been live producing for 10 years and still loves the magic of live looping, producing, action painting.. with music! Open to all styles he always explores unique ways to write film music for the senses.

In the realm of music, Ricoloop has a place of his own. He is profoundly inhabited by a desire to catch the invisible, to plant a flower to the moon. His techniques involve looping, guitar and bass playing, harmonica, piano and melodica, singing and beatboxing and uses his computer to trigger all sorts of sound libraries to draw landscapes of improvisation.

After years of experimenting his very unique technique of making music, he has finally sifted through his improvised live recordings to carve out a conceptual album from his most precious gems. Delicacy, spaciousness, experimental, transparent, honest are words that come to mind after a first listen.

Marcus Gorstein‘s input as producer has been quintessential in bringing out the structured beauty of the boundless creativity pouring out of Rico Loop. The music is open, inviting, full of harmonies, polyrhythms but more than anything, inspiring.

It is visually stimulating, mind challenging, musically different and it asks to be played over again. A giant loop!
